Planning Your Wedding Hair
Your wedding day hair needs to look flawless in person, photograph beautifully, and hold up from ceremony through the last dance. That takes planning, the right stylist, and at least one trial run. Here’s how to approach it so there are no surprises on your big day.
When to Start Planning
We recommend booking your bridal hair consultation 3 to 6 months before your wedding. This gives you time for:
- An initial consultation to discuss your vision
- A trial appointment to test the style, make adjustments, and lock in the final look
- Any color or treatment appointments you might need before the wedding
If your wedding is during peak season (May through October), book even earlier. Our stylists’ wedding calendars fill up fast, especially for Saturday weddings.
The Bridal Hair Process
Step 1: Consultation
Bring your reference photos, your veil or headpiece (if you’re wearing one), and photos of your dress. Your stylist needs to see the neckline, the back, and the overall vibe to recommend styles that complement everything. This isn’t just about the hair. It’s about how the whole look comes together.
Step 2: Trial Run
This is non-negotiable. A trial run is a full appointment where your stylist creates the agreed-upon style from start to finish. You’ll see exactly how it looks, how it feels, and how long it takes. Take photos from every angle. Live with it for the rest of the day. See how it holds up.
If anything needs adjusting, that’s what the trial is for. Better to make changes now than on the morning of your wedding.
Step 3: Wedding Day
On the day itself, your stylist already knows exactly what to do. The trial eliminated the guesswork. You show up, sit down, and relax while your look comes together.
